Why Join?

Why join?

I remember when I signed up for this job, I was much more excited about having a nearly-real-life work than the benefits I will get. In fact, I was even guessing the benefits when I was asked about it. I was excited to know what’s going on during work, with all the time-in’s and time-out’s, liabilities, apology letters, leave of absences and pure, simple fun with co-workers.

This was tested when one benefit, vital to all volunteers, was removed. In fact most of us gave up simply because it was unfair. I also do think it is unfair, even up to now, to remove that benefit but what can I do versus the ones in power? Despite this, I remained in service trying to see how things will go after that painful event. However, the most important part was to recall my answer to that question above. Simply, to serve. Not only to serve fellow Ateneans, who annoyingly very good at exploiting their magna carta, but also serve fellow scholars.

In fact, it was the first time in my duty (and the last time) that a recruitment was so jampacked, despite using the same means of promotion for the past 4 years. Now, the task left under this recruitment period is to pick the most appropriate people before I pass this job and sign-off for good. It will always be a good experience. 😀
