Android Madness!

For my OJT, I came to my school to have myself trained (and self-trained) in Android programming. Just for you who are not into tech stuff, Android is the program pretty much used by most mobile phones, usually the touch-screen ones and the reason why it’s so widely used by these companies (HTC, Samsung…) is that it’s an open-source platform, meaning everyone can make their own programs, share it or sell it. It’s like the Linux of mobile phones. What’s more, because it’s open to everyone, even the top app makers are bringing in their apps to the platform.

For starters, I need to install some stuff, like the software development kit and such. Moreover, I also need to learn the very backbone of this platform:Java. After searching for tutorials, finally, I know the basics of Java and I can actually say it’s super easier than C++ programming language. To test all your programs, the SDK provides an emulator. The problem is that the emulator demands so much resources that the ones who gave me the tutorials for Android said that it’ll be more ideal to use a phone. Um…I don’t have an Android phone so they provided us noobs with two Wildfire units for room use only.

Of course, me as a gadgeteer, I can’t take my hands off the unit. 😀 I so want one… 😦

A decent one would cost around 15K Php which is a tall order for me since I’m still broke. Meh, can you help me buy one? Just a joke. After some puny learning, I was able to make a program with input and output operations, a basic calculator and it is still installed in the phone when I left it in the office. Now I think I’m beginning to make progress and I hope this Android programming will help me a lot. 😀

Here’s a video of the calculator I made. It’s super basic so there’s nothing interesting really, but still an achievement for me who’s not into these kinds of things

How will you say your feelings to a girl?

I mean, really. How? I’ve been giving advices to people but even I can’t seem to do it. x|

and it was Laiya. :D

It was a nice place, really. 😀 The small waves, a pool, good food and place to sleep were exceptional. There’s also WiFi! Too bad I did not bring my laptop but no matter, as I enjoyed a 90kg capacity trampoline. I also tried Kayak and it was tiring but fun. I don’t like going to beach water that much, same as in pools but that little boat made me hug saltwater again. 😀 It was fun. After a long Kayak run, peanuts, lunch, jump on the pool, I took a bath to clean off the salt and chlorine and went to take a nap. After all of those things I did, it seemed that all that stress I obtained from the registration duty.

It made me think, though, when was the last time we went to this kind of outing? Before, we were able to go to beaches since our ancestral home was just near the beach. It doesn’t really matter to me whether it’s not white sand and all activities that you usually find exciting are not there as long as you feel that ocean breeze on to your face. But trying to remember things, we also went to other places but with other people so that the costs are minimized. However, when things got rough, especially my entry in college, we don’t have the time to go to such places and it’s a blessing that we were able to do so this time.

I also practiced shooting landscapes so if you want to see the beauty of the place, click here.

Like a Boss, Day 2

Day 2, bracing my team for the worst: A large barrage of students despite the efforts of reducing the volume through means of online methods. Yet the online method was pretty much ignored or not understood by most of the students. In fact, one of my members asked about it and out of the expected 700 students, only around a hundred paid attention to the new system. Judging from the schedule presented for the whole academic year, it seems that the new system would still persist. For the undergrad, things will be a bit lighter. In fact, lighter than we expected. A constant arrival of students with gap of around 5-30 minutes each was observed. Good for them…

Like a Boss.

Today wasn’t really what I expected. I mean I expected this day to be really hard as it was the first time for the new system to be implemented under my team. The other teams remained intact with their procedures and mine was to see whether the new system would be feasible.

LSAT Dry Run, Lunch at Jollibee, Sara Bareilles and Popcorn

Today was the first day of LSAT Dry Run, consisting of only undergrad teams. Still makes me sad though as only few came but the hope of having most of the new members come was fulfilled and so I thank all those new members who came. I hope the dry run today was enough experience for them. Eventually, they all scampered off to utilize the half-day I promised that they will get. It made me laugh a lot :)) After the run, I ate lunch with some new members, as well as some of the boys in the core group. It was a nice conversation between them and I hope we, the new core group, will be closer in a short amount of time. After that, I headed back to school, went to the library and took a nap. Oh yeah, Sara Bareilles was singing until I slept.

Then by afternoon, after finishing what I requested for CAO to do for me, I shut down my laptop, went to PIPAC to drop  my things and bought myself some merienda. Not a hearty one but can make my heart happy. My favorite cheese popcorn bag is in 7-eleven again and to top it off, I bought a BigGulp cup of Pepsi. 😀 Then I sat by the soccer field and experienced the cool breeze of the afternoon. God is soooo goooooood. It’s been a while since I’ve experienced nature’s goodness. After all of the stress from academics and the recent work, God gives you all he can give you to make you feel in great comfort. You would want to share these blessings with a friend or someone else but no one’s around. 😥 Oh well, in a way, why spoil things because of that?

It’s such a nice day. and I hope it continues. 😀
