Yup, I have them all~! Here’s the new set of model cars recently released by Shell. 😀So what’s new? That’s the question being brought up by most of the enthusiasts of Shell. What’s new is the cars have sounds as you pull the car back then when you release the car. 😀 But first, let me show you the pictures of the cars of the set:
Ferrari FXX
Ferrari F40
Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
Ferrari 575 GTC
Ferrari F430 Challenge
Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
Ferrari 250 GTO
So there you have it. They came in 7 cars instead of 6 which was the number of cars of the first set. Aside from that, there are no other differences that is obvious to a typical kid who collects these cars except for the sounds but actually there are small details that have been added to make the cars look better. Here are they:
1. The Engine Sounds
So how does it work? You can see the switch in the image above and that turns on the sensors as well as the small speaker. When you pull the car, it creates a revving sound, similar to the engine sound of the real car. Then when you release the car, it creates a loud but fading speeding sound. 😀 How nice was that. BUT if you’re t display these cars, I’d suggest that you remove the batteries before it eats up the battery terminals.
2. Body Details
If you’re good at looking at stuff, you’ll notice that Hotwheels have used the same platform of materials and format but increased the number of details. The previous set was nice but it was dull to look at whereas the new set was looking better. Though they have removed the windows and only retained the windshield as the clear part on the passenger compartment but who cares? They look good at black.Look at that spoiler! The FXX has greater detail than the Enzo of the previous set.
They’ve also included the one that I was looking for, The “Ferrari” logo at the back. 😀 The previous set didn’t have any of these, they only have Ferrari Logos on the side which was kind of common. 😀 😀
Other body details include the realistic lowering for racing cars like the 575 GTC, the diffusers and the like. 😀 They’ve improved a lot in the design and made the cars more realistic.
The “beyond recognition” rear design of the SuperAmerica versus the real 575 rear design of the GTC version. 😀
the F430 Challenge has better and closer headlamp design than the previous set’s F430
There’s now room for mufflers spouting out from the body. 😀
3. Greater DETAIL!!!(wheels)
When model cars like these go out, they don’t emphasize some details like wheel width. In the previous set, I only saw Enzo with wheel detail emphasis.
They did give the wheel width detail but not that much. However, in this new set, they gave it all. 😀 I’ve noticed it for the FXX, 575 GTC and F40:
You can see that the width of the wheels have been made more realistic compared to Enzo’s…. and look at the tire treads. 😀
the F40, too, has nice proportions in the width for the wheels at the front and at the back. As you can see, the rear wheels have deeper “lip” compared to the front wheels. To make it more understandable, the wheels at the front seemed to be “nearer” compared to the rear wheels’ “farther” look.
However, when it comes to wheeeels, this is the best part:
Racing cars do have slicks and in this particular model, they gave it slicks-design tires~! How about that? and that classic multi-spoke rims that you can see in most touring car championships is just realistic. Look at that diffuser. 😀
The second set had a closer rim design to the real car. In this case above, the FXX and Enzo should have the same wheel design in real life but the FXX got it closer. 😀 Except that it did not have the original FXX rim colors. 😀
4. Reminisce the Past, Improvement to the present 😀
There are models which seemed to be a jump to the past and improvement of the old cars for the present. Let me show some and explain:
Yup, the so-called “Formula 1 cars for the road. :D” F50 was the successor to the great F40. They say that the paint on both cars were so thin that you can see the weave of the carbon fiber body. 😀
The 250 GTO was one of the fathers of front engine V12 series of Ferrari. This is where 550 Maranello close too, which became the 575. I also think the 599 GTB is also related to this car. 😀
The GTC and Challenge Series is the group of improved cars. 😀 The 360 was further improved to a track-day car by stripping off equipment and giving it the name “CS” or “Challenge Stradale”. The F430, which came after 360 in its series, also received the same treatment. The GTC series I think is the series designed for racing purposes. 😀 Just look at the drastic change from the 575 SuperAmerica to its GTC version.
Conclusion?
All I can say for the new set is that it’s a big leap from the previous one. Aside from the funny but good engine sounds, the details even the small ones, really made them one step different from the first set.
The details are amazing, really, for a plastic model. Although, it can be sooo small compared to Tamiya plastic model cars but this set is just so cheaper than the high end ones and the details already given in this set is, for me, already a bargain. And what’s more, it is available to every fuel station. 😀
They come in nice package as it makes you want to collect and collect them all.
It’s worth the wait at the gas station, every stop.
Oh yeah, I forgot. If the previous set had the Helix Limited Giallo Modena Enzo, this time they made the limited one to be the 599 GTB but instead in yellow, the color was Rosso Corsa or Red! If you get that, you’ll have the entire collection in Full Red Color~!!!
Overall, it’s nice collection. I’m hoping for the next set! (which they said, can turn into the directions you indicate it when you let it run. kewl.)
The next set is “touch steering”, I already got them all. To see it, visit my blog below:
